Freyja oil portrait, second layer
alt text
Art Monday with my buddy Jesse, so among other things I got back to my cat painting tonight after letting it dry for a week.
Added a bunch of fur bristle strokes to the face to break up the color of the underpainting and try and sell cat texture better. Still sort of figuring out how to even approach this sort of thing, and these "bristles" are all pretty impressionistic compared to the actual scale of her fur, but it feels a lot more cat-like to me now at least.
Also added glaze layers ot the eyes and the nose, to deepen the color on both and try to build out the translucent/refractive feeling of the eyes in particular. This is getting there, but I see at least one more pass on the eyes being productive. Glazing continues to be an exciting development for me.
Still need to add whiskers, too; that'll wait till all this dries because I want them to be nice and crisp.
