Sadly, joining would mean I'd have to create an account, and I have taken a solemn oath to remain Facebookless. It seems to me one of the great joys of MLKSHK is its status as refuge from the Zuckerverse. Can you share the point, other than the real name thing? -Lord_John_Killjoy
Sorry. Nope. Won't facebook. Hope I don't miss anything. I've survived facebookless up to now. No to twittering, neither snapping nor chatting. Mlkshk is my social media vice. I'll never foresake you.
@LordJohnWhorfin I'm guessing the point is like the (user-facing) point of FB as a whole, to facilitate friendships & conversations between like minded folk. Like, if someone on here is funny, you can joke around more with them outside of the boundaries of just commenting on their shk posts, or if someone has shared interests (Disneyland? Travel?) you can talk with them about it?
totally fine if you don't buy into the facebook game. i'm not a huge fan of it, but i've been using it for a decade now and it's become a habitual center of my web experience.
really, i wanted to see the aspects of people i don't always get to see on mlkshk itself- perhaps expand the possibilities for conversation, tighten the community, and discover people i might otherwise miss in my daily plow through incoming! and friend feed.
@nikkuneko I feel the same way. I find some of the people here so fun/funny/likeable I wanted to extend the amount of their presence in my online life. I understand people hating FB. I have no more feelings for FB than I do for HTML or TCP/IP, at this point it's just a service to me, even though I know it's run by a shadowy cabal with evil intent. That said, I've been using it for a decade and they've yet to ruin my life, so maybe their shadowy intent is all intent and no cattle, to mix metaphors.
@chadlavi gurl u heard me. join or die or skate
