Single-bed foam mattress lost its fabric cover around 2009, and has since been sacrificed to the chewing and digging propensities of the dogs. Two shallow depressions have been carved out at each end for comfy curling, but I fear that erosion will mean the end of this structure!

Slow net yesterday, so here is the context:

the chair was acquired in 2007 as a dog chair (South Australian readers will understand when I describe it as a Le Cornu-ish piece—without racing stripes!).

First incumbent was Libby (1995–2009) and it was immediately adopted by daughter Taxi (2000–2012) after Libby’s death.

After Taxi shuffled last October, I offered the chair to DB, who would not go near it, presumably because of the memory of the dominant Taxi.

After 4½ months residence, Jess decided to take up the vacant chair a few days ago; she resembles Libby quite a lot, so it’s a fitting and nice update.

426g of Atlantic salmon (farmed in Tasmania) cost $5 at the closing of Adelaide’s Central Market yesterday afternoon. Went well with a mild lentil curry with capsicum, garlic chives, parsley, baby spinach and rocket.

Thinly-sliced garlic was crisp-fried with fresh-ground black pepper in rice bran oil, which was used to cook the fish, finished with splashes of soy and verjuice, and a squeeze of lemon.

Yum.
