Single-bed foam mattress lost its fabric cover around 2009, and has since been sacrificed to the chewing and digging propensities of the dogs. Two shallow depressions have been carved out at each end for comfy curling, but I fear that erosion will mean the end of this structure!

Thinly-sliced garlic was crisp-fried with fresh-ground black pepper in rice bran oil, which was used to cook the fish, finished with splashes of soy and verjuice, and a squeeze of lemon.
