An official tries to remove Kathrine Switzer, the first female participant in the Boston Marathon, from the race.
The man in the suit is Jock Semple, co-director of the marathon. When he found that Switzer was running in his race, he grabbed her and yelled “get the hell out of my race and give me that race number”. This photo was taken exactly at the moment Switzer's boyfriend body-checked Semple, freeing her to continue the race.
