I was just thinking about how much of etsy/spoonflower/etc. is populated with artists' creations based on trademarked characters. With so many around, and a seeming lack of enforcement by those who run the sites, I began to wonder if this was not illegal as I had assumed it would be. Turns out it is indeed illegal, but it's up to the trademark/copyright holder to initiate a complaint. Just something I hadn't really thought about before.
