too many versions of helvetica (webfont plus local substitution plus browser preference) = rendering issues

Supposedly, this article suggests that Helvetica - which has been decreasing in popularity in recent years as webfonts with larger and more complete character sets (many of which are often much more appropriate for their context) become more popular - will displace other types ... something that an enormous amount of data clearly refutes.

But I can't read the article, because the site is serving up a webfont version of Helvetica that seems to conflict with the MacOS system Helvetica.

Danger Helvetica, indeed.
