@Vidiot I think it's accurate, no. If the government produced it (and not contractors) it's in the public domain. Or were you making a different point?
@jessamyn no, my point was that of course pictures from government sources are public domain, and Flickr has no need of resorting to mealymouthed weasel words like "no known copyright restrictions." (I'm similarly disappointed in Flickr's saying "all rights reserved" on official White House photos, while linking to the US government page clearly stating that they're public domain.)
I'll admit I didn't think of the problems of contractor-produced images, but NASA had historically and continues to release scads of images for public and press use.
