Posting this message here in the hopes that it only appears on your page and not froggers, whose post you originally favorited. Regardless - wanted to send you a note & Mlkshk doesn't have DM'ing built in. Buttermilk showed me this technique a while ago (commenting on an older post by someone) and I thought I'd repurpose it here. Anyway, writing 'cause you seem like a cool person and wanted to be able to contact you outside of Mlkshk - I'm at rouseville on Google's email, shoot me a note.
@jonson Yeah, I believe Comments are exclusive to the post; they don't propagate up the line as Likes do, nor alert the OP. Either way, I got your message!
The feeling's certainly mutual – you're definitely one of the Mlkshkrs I've often wished to have the ability to interact with outside of our little slice of Internet heaven, but my Luddite refusal to be absorbed into the FB- or Twitter-verses made doing so more difficult. (I'm not even a MeFite, where I know some mlkshk royalty also mingles.) So thank you for reaching out. I felt like it was missed opportunity that we didn't connect before you left L.A. (for Portland, IIRC?), since we do seem to have a lot in common. Hell, I think I still have your Culver Hotel post open with a half-composed response that I'm always looking for the skinny on new-to-me restaurants, since you offered. I'm bad about replies sometimes.
Oh and BTW, that you used this low-tech, security-through-obscurity technique sure tickles my nerdybone. Sort of like the opening bit in the Matrix where Trinity does that Telnet-chat session thing with an unsuspecting Neo (which I guess makes you Carrie-Anne Moss here, but onward…). I think I might even have seen the post where Buttermilk revealed this dark magic to you – one regarding a certain long-time and prolific Mlkshkr's unfortunate meltdown?
Anyway, look for my email soon, from a ridiculously old-school domain, natch. Mirror image of: ten.knilhtraE@saccAP
