Put the seat down - now with math!
alt text
If you move the toilet seat to your preferred position and then leave it that way, the outcome is that girls will have to adjust the seat 49.5% of the time, while boys only have to do so 45% of the time.
Thus, always put the seat down, boys! BECAUSE MATH!
My estimates about how many girls and boys pee standing up / sitting down are estimates, but under 1% for girls standing (dot your i's, girls!) and around 10% for boys sitting (young kids, elderly, hungover, too sleepy too stand) seems sane. Of course, boys have to move the toilet seat even less if they sit down more often.

(I accidentally swapped actions girls take on the up/down, but the percentage outcomes are the same, so chillax.)

Maybe the solution is awesome Japanese toilets instead! Let's fix this with TECHNOLOGY!
The second world is the world you prefer, in which every biological man would BOTH lift the seat AND put it down 100% of the time. If you count that as two position changes, then we're talking about twice as many changes as in world 1. But even if you count lifting and lowering as one change (meaning overall utility would be the same at 50 changes), all of those changes would be by men. Let's take a second to consider the converse.
In world three, all sitters (mostly biological women) would be required to BOTH lower AND raise the seat at each peeing, because the default position would be up. Would this be acceptable to you? I'm going to guess that it would not, because it would be an unfair situation for women, who would have to do extra work to support the peeing preferences of standers.
So why do you think sitting is the default, and why do you think standers should disproportionately bear the responsibility of supporting your peeing preferences?
