I don't know. I sort of like how it bucks convention, in the face of the billions who take the Olympic games seriously. They could have played it safe with Gill Sans or made it with (yawn) brush strokes. The choppy informality of it is unexpected, if not whimsical.
But it is certainly an awful typeface, no doubt about it.
