Kids have no sense of having anywhere to go or anything to do at any particular time. My kids would have been enraptured by this, yes, but they are also enraptured by cereal boxes, squeaky sneakers, and windshield wipers. Grownups appreciate beauty, but man, we've got shit to do.
Paying $100 to see him is a concious choice and the time is set aside however taking a random timeout during a busy day isn't an option for the majority.
back when I used to take the skytrain, I used to savor those moments of listening to a street musician in the station - some were quite good - and their sudden beauty often gave me chills
the problem was - it was 5:25pm - I was still a good 20 minutes from home, and I was hungry - I had SHIT TO DO and no matter how beautiful that moment was, it couldn't overwhelm my existing priorities
a good "gotcha" thing - but IMHO opinion - in no way reflective of people's perception of "beauty"
try this again in a setting where people linger with time on their hands (like a big park on a weekend) and see what happens...
@tonyb I tried, but after taking a number I was tired of waiting in line....I didnt feel special enough(and I want those 4 hours of waiting that I lost too!)
The sound snow makes when you walk in it is pretty cool, that sort of crump crump crump sound you get. Especially at night and you are the only one walking in it.

Maybe it's just a stop and smell the roses sort of thing. And perhaps for a lot of people, violin music isnt all that awesome.
who can say?

@justabaldguy I feel that way about hearing the snow fall. That sound(usually at night) is the softest and soothing sound there is.
