We downsized from a 2200 sq ft house (built in the 70s) to a 1500 sq ft house (built in the 50s) and were much happier. But a big part of the problem with the larger house was how the space was arranged. The master bedroom (not including the master bath) was the largest room in house, even larger than the living room. The other two bedrooms were consequently walk-in closets. We're shopping again, in a different part of the country, and we're going to be looking for 1100 to 1500 again.
@jer Yeah, my house is not tiny. Just much smaller than my first house. The article is about the 'Tiny House' trend, generally 65-500 sq feet. That's tiny.
@amypetty Love the idea and philosophy behind this, but for my family of 5 it's not too practical. Very curious to see if "tiny subdivision" or housing blocks appear in the future... kinda sci-fi like in a way!
Me and my husband have been living in our 300sqft apartment for more than 5 years now. We have gotten used to it, and it didn“t bother us much as first. Now we can't wait to get out!
