@XYLENE I just needed a place to put it so I could put it in comments on a friends post where he's whining about the timeline feature. mlkshk's handy that way.
I am a facebook user, and I was not "timeline enthused" but forced adopted... there was a third way, but instead the user was not respected.
@johnr I value your insight, but I think the user not being valued except as a commodity is nothing new. I hope your peer community also hears, and maybe values that.
@XYLENE I agree with you that FB has a cavalier attitude towards the users, but instead of boycotting, people keep going back, claiming to object all the while. For myself, I have been around the net long enough to expect that people will want to make 'improvements' to their site to 'keep it fresh.'
I am honestly not sure exactly what the timeline is or does, and I don't knowingly go out of my way to make use of it. The big attraction for me at FB is WWF, which I don't spend any money on, otherwise my FB use would be minimal. I think my peer at whom my jibe was aimed will take it in the spirit intended.
