Hospes Palau de la Mar; Valencia

I like this not so much because I think it works as a hotel (I don't, really), but because it reminds me of my college dorms, which were/are unusual as a dorm setup: doors opened to the outside with a lot of public outdoor space. While forsaking "security" and making the in loco parentis norm of separating the sexes more difficult, it fostered more of a community feel: students are encouraged to spend time outside, which in turn encouraged collaboration.

My dorm, however, looked nothing so nice as this.
