Watching this prick smile broadly and his cohorts behind him laugh it up at his fucking Republicare press conference fills me with utter disgust. I thought he was loathsome and infuriating when I saw his Charlie Rose interview a couple months back and he flat-out lied about so much of his agenda, actions and history. But this is a new low in misanthropy and class warfare.
Even if the CBO estimate are off by fully 50%, this son-of-a-bitch and his genocidal "replacement" non-plan will cause 12 million people to lose insurance. Plus I don't know how many millions more will compromise/reduce their coverage, or spend an enormous percentage of their income/savings to tread water, or both. My understanding is the CBO projections are conservative, so I'm going to stick with 24,000,000 as just a starting point And for every person/family that loses easy access to health care, there will statistically be a small percentage of otherwise preventable deaths; so even if it's 0.1% of 24,000,000, that means they are consigning 24,000 people to die needlessly. This isn't hyperbole; just ask @jonson about having coverage, early diagnoses, and near-misses.
So tens of thousands of us – of neighbors, of fellow Americans, of other human beings – will die or have sharply worse quality of life, AND HE AND THE REST OF THE FUCKING REPUBLICAN PARTY ARE OK WITH THIS.
And FOR WHAT? So the Republican Party can… free us from the yoke of somewhat government-assisted healthcare, a not-great-but-shit-tons-better-than-the-old-or-"new"-way system? Give the public cripplingly expensive options under the guise of "choice" or "freedom"? Give the finger to a now-departed president they worked against from Day One and those who supported him? Live out their Ayn Rand fantasies to the disgraceful fullest? Fuck these each and every one of these lying sociopaths.
