If you have time, do yourself a favor and read the source material, first published August 1938 in Astounding Science-Fiction. Director John Carpenter was brilliantly faithful to it and it's a f#$kin' nail-biter.
Or even better, do yourself a solid: Read it as I first did when I was a nerdly tween - completely alone in a big, old, dark house in New England in the dead of winter:
