Thanks for the well-wishes everyone. I'm still hella stressed out. He's sleeping now and he ate some so he's feeling a little better. It bothers the shit out of me that he's in pain and confused and I can't explain what's happening. Where are our damn human-to-animal translators?
We think he was playing on the bannister around the stairs and fell. We were in the living room watching a movie and heard a thump that sounded different than a normal cat jump and then he came down the rest of the stairs crying and in obvious pain and he ran into my room and tried to hide in my laundry. Thankfully no spinal or cranial damage, just a small tibial fracture.
A few months back I cat sat a small kitten with a broken leg that friends found banged up and emancipated in a box at the LAX in n out burger. I will tell you that even a full leg cast will not slow down a kitten all that much... prepare yourself.
Oh, kitty! Sorry, sweetheart. But you're clearly in good hands with Daddy Nick. Lucky, lucky, lucky.
@NickSeam Hang in there man, I know those tears and that angst. Trust me, Ripley may not grok the cast, but he understands you care and you're there for him, and that's all that matters. He'll just have to gimp around for a while, which means you can snuggle him all the more till he's all better.
