do not lie to me
@jessamyn I know this is not the best day to be making this pitch, either. But things a bit terrifying for me and my family out here in not-Vermont.
@Biscuit I hear you. I have been actively lobbying my peeps in non-Vermont (ESPECIALLY in Ohio where I was recently) to be as on top of this as they possibly can be.
@jessamyn "The stupid state-by-state electoral college way we do elections in this country means that I can actually not vote for Hillary and still not have it be a vote for Trump if I live in a state that is 100% guaranteed to go for Hillary, which I do."
...so long as not too many others in your state don't feel the same way as you and decide to not vote for Hillary because everyone else will anyway...

@jessamyn I thought of this segment on Democracy Now! http://www.democracynow.org/2016... when I read your comment. If you have about 10 minutes, I'd be curious to hear your reaction to the two guests here (I will abstain from posting my own typically opinionated take on it for now).
@Biscuit Not sure how you feel votes are shaping up in the Land of Pence, but I'm curious if you are at all heartened by the Fourth Circuit striking down not just NC voter ID laws, but WI's and to a lesser extent TX's.

@Lord_John_Whorfin It's a start. Anyone who lives in a state with early voting oughta take advantage of it, though. (Another advantage -- at least in Iowa and probably other states -- is that parties get a daily updated list of who has voted early; this cuts way down on the junk mail and robocalls you get.)

@Biscuit Ugh, yes, that tab is sitting open to be finished later; I got discouraged after just the first few 'graphs.
@Lord_John_Whorfin I just thought those two were talking past each other, I can clearly see what they are both saying and why they feel what they feel. I think the point about the Republicans slowly and quietly filling up judgeships and other lower level positions is the nefarious thing that people who can't just hold their nose and vote for Clinton can really actively work on. But yeah, I'm solidly on Team Norm on that one. I was happy (after the fact) that the DNC mostly worked out how it did, but it was surprising to see the big gestures (DNC stuff, VP choice) not even trying to appease Progressives who have at a conservative estimate 40-45% of her base. I love that Jess is excited about getting to vote for a female president and go her and the women who are excited about that. I am not excited about that.
Norm seemed to be quoting facts. Jess seemed to be quoting platform-y stuff. She said he was not in the fight. That's more of the same "You're with us or against us based on one action: your vote" and I'm just not on board with that.

I totally appreciate the feels behind this sort of online campaigning and I realize I may sound a lot like a "Well actually" asshole. I'm a woman, I love myself and other women and people of color and queers and immigrants and everyone else who would be fucked over by a Trump presidency. But my vote is my business and there are many more ways to show people you care about them. No lie.
