In undergrad, I did an internship with an architecture firm in Cleveland. I had the privilege of doing as-built measurements on a hotel on the east side of the city that had been abandoned for decades. It was an eery, incredible experience. The plaster had rained down from the walls and ceiling to carpet the floor in inches of soft dust. Almost every window sill had skeletons of pigeons who had flown in but couldn't escape. We even found some old black-and-white photos of couples sitting around in a hotel room in their underwear, smoking and drinking.
It was one of the most memorable experiences of my time there.
I just posted a bunch of photos, in no particular order. It was a pretty amazing experience. I have been fascinated by Chernobyl, Fallout, STALKER, etc, for most of my life, and I was totally immersed.
I also ran across a parked car, with a man sitting quietly behind the wheel with the driver door open. I approached from behind and wasn't sure he saw me before I quickly walked in the opposite direction. A real horror movie moment.

Man, I don't even know. It was over on Euclid and 53rd? 57th maybe? It's since been razed - even at the time I was in the building, the roof had collapsed the top two floors. Probably the reason they had interns in there instead of anyone worth anything.
I do remember there being a piano just hanging out in the middle of a corner room of the third floor. I guess someone had filmed a music video in there in the '90s (the name I heard was Mick Jagger) and had just left it there to rot with everything else. There was a time that I'd fantasized about being part of the buildings refurbishment and eventually living in that room.
