@Kevin it's people (presumably women) voting for a female presidential candidate paying tribute to the suffragette who fought for their right to do so. I doubt it's a tradition as there's never been a female presidential candidate from a major party before.

I feel the need to say that as a history and government teacher, and a man raised by a feminist to respect the immense and long struggle of the suffragettes, I really really love this.
110 since Anthony died, and 96 years since the franchise was extended at the federal level, and we finally have a woman candidate who can/may actually win.
@ayeco there is a long tradition in judaism which is just stones-not-flowers permanence of legacy etc. Joy's explanation is a little handwavey and Christian for my tastes but basically true.
