He'll be 95 this week! He was a prof at my alma mater (UC Davis), though he only taught about one class a year by the time I showed up. Feel like I kinda blew an opportunity by not even attempting to get into one of his classes.
Back in undergrad a couple series of my paintings were influenced significantly by WT's food work, but the older I get, I find the California landscape stuff like this one, more and more incredible.
@cityofprogress Wow, OK. I know I mentioned it once before in a post that was specifically about UCD. I mentioned it here because it seemed relevant – I wish I had taken the opportunity to learn from an great artist in place of yet another design or art history class. I didn't think I was beating Mlkshk over the head with it or it was somehow deeply offensive to you.
@cityofprogress I was thought it might be a missed joke on my part, but I couldn't figure any reference. Haven't seen the vaping meme, so thanks for clarifying.
(For someone who wields sarcasm as liberally as I do, you'd think I would have better sarcastdar, but in my own posts, I have learned that the occasional </s> is sometimes helpful.)
Honestly, for a brief moment, I thought, "wait, is this like some Harvard douche who's always alma mater name-dropping?" Which I didn't want to be, but was a bit appealing for an alum who's school is often in the shadow of U.C. Berkeley and Stanford, at least in Cali.

*in the British sense.
(Dang, thought I posted this weeks ago.)
