Yes
I buy it actually. He's differentiating between Bond-the-job and Bond-the-character.
@dongresin :)
I also dislike it when men who play problematic characters acknowledge that fact.
Clearly in his 'So done, can't even' with the series.
(I do not actually dislike it, and feel like throwing out the actually-saying-reasonable-shit-that-is-often-pointedly-elided with the grasping-tightly-to-cynical-distrust-of-the-hype-machine water is a sort of pointlessly defeatist approach to take, but also dry internet sarcasm and argybarg etc.)

(Which is to say: sometimes stuff is both cool/fun/enjoyable and problematic, and I think it's okay to allow both of those and to acknwoledge that your fave is problematic AND enjoy your problematic fave, because god knows the media landscape would narrow sharply otherwise. But if shit's gonna be problematic, having the folks involved actually acknowledge that and talk about it is a shitload better than having them change the subject entirely or be like NO BUT IT'S SO COOL. Bond is cool as hell, and he's also a misogynistic jerk who is a terrible fucking model for how anyone should be living their life. It's nice to hear Craig say as much and call dumbshit pop media journalism on its frequently active complicity in supporting the whitewashing and valorizing of that problematic shit. Even if it's good marketing or whatever the fuck.)
(Also I can't get rid of these parentheses now, they're a part of me, but, really, imagine the nightmare scenario where acknowledging the ethical and aesthetic sticking points of the thing their working on is So Damn Good Marketing that *every* star and director and writer actually makes lucid comments about the shit they're working on just to keep up with the Joneses and every also-ran Entertainment Weekly junket journo forced to abandon the rote vapidity of current "reporting" in favor of actually discussing some sliver of depth and nuance regarding the shit they're covering. That's the slippery slope Craig's leading us down.)
@dongresin The presidential campaign has fiance corruption? Did he propose and then back out at the altar?
@joshmillard [you should move over to straight parens and then adopt the {sideways moustaches} and you'll eventually be able to overcome the pull of normal parens. either that or you're like that guy who hiccupped for like forty years and you might as well give up and just say everything as an aside from here on in.]
