@jessamyn Hard to say. The originators of the ad might be trying to draw attention to AirBnB's revenue forecast in an indirect manner (anticipated to be about $900m for 2015).
There's another one about bike lanes. It's weird right, like they may think this is them being "helpful" b/c they're so out of touch. Or someone has a real hate-on for them because this is pitch perfect.
Fake, as it's not 'branded' with a logo or url, standard per the rule book. That said, it's not false as far as these companies willingness to be a part of society. See also: tech buses.
It can't be that hard to get access to a large format printer and the insides of these kiosks. The 'Shot with an iPhone' ads a year ago are similar.
Even airBnb isn't that oblivious to foresee the fallout this will cause. Bus shelter campaigns also are never just one bus shelter, and in SF this would be photographed and shared by many people. Sound like a hoax of someone who really hates airBnb.
@jessamyn My God. Who in the hell do they have working for them in PR? Because I'm ready to warm up the e-mail machine and send a resume, tout suite, once heads start to roll off the chopping block.
"We emailed Airbnb spokesman Christopher Nulty to ask whether the library ad was "real." He responded by email, "as opposed to a fake one :)"
"A follow up email, explaining that we were in fact seeking confirmation as to whether the ads are actually from Airbnb received the following response: "Are you seriously writing on this?"
"Nulty did not respond to another follow up email."
// San Franciscans are taking to Twitter as well to express their displeasure with the $25 billion company. // @jessamyn Congrats on getting a shout out, but if you moved to San Francisco I hope you left a forwarding address or my raw potato might never find you.

But (some) people online are basically saying "fake" so I'm trying to figure out whether it's really by AirBnB or not.

Oh, and OOOH! Jessamyn sighting!
Dear SF: Vote YES on Prop. F!

Congrats on getting a shout out, but if you moved to San Francisco I hope you left a forwarding address or my raw potato might never find you.
- poorly written
- includes some nasty harsh restrictions on homeowners who actually obey the law
- benefits only the hotel industry

AirBNB is run by a bunch of assholes, no doubt, but prop F doesn't solve the problem, it only makes for some shitty new law.
