I would like to point out that I use the browser extensions for Mlkshk. So I just right-click and share a lot of what I find. Unfortunately it doesn't show me file size when doing it this way.
I know the team hasn't had time to implement stuff like this, but I'd love to have a limit on uploads. I rarely even look at mlkshk unless I'm on wifi.
It'd be nice if there were a setting to flag images over a certain size, similar to the NSFW tag, but perhaps in a different color.
Granted, the FAQ page does say "Image files should be under 3 megabytes, but under 1.5 megabytes is suggested. Be nice to your friends on mobile phones or tablets. Those things don't have a lot of RAM and it could make displaying images choppy. "
There is a maximum filesize, but using the chrome extension can bypass it. It would be nice if mlkshk could handle different filetypes to allow gifv files or other html5 videos, but I also understand that nobody has time to program that stuff these days.
@halborski @NickSeam I think in the extension window a simple warning that a GIF is not optimized would suffice. A small update to the extension could go a long way.
I too use mobile/tablets when viewing Mlkshk and feel the pain. I would do my part to lessen the pain.
If I had the skillz, I'd offer up compression code for the good folks @Mlkshk to put in place for all uploads/extension saves. But I do not. However, I feel that some of you Mlkshkrs do.

(some of us even live in places with these things called 'data caps')
//You might be the only person in the history of mlkshk to read the FAQ.//
As I recall I ended up there once by mistake.

But this explains a lot, there should be some hard limit (or NSFP tag) for our friends with the data limits.
