Welp
But to my point, she's depressed that more people are watching women athletes compete on the world stage, instead of a horse race.
Can someone explain this to me? Who is she and why is she annoyed that people watched women's soccer?
@regina I honestly can't truly explain her particular aneurysm here. I was just hyperbolizing my way into something that could reflect her actual thought process, so I was only slightly kidding above. I think she really believes that if more people watch a women's soccer game than the Belmont, that's clear evidence that the country is moving away from its proper white male landowner roots, and towards something more than a little foreign, and therefore bad and un-American.
She is among the worst of the caustic, reactionist far-right doomsayers, so like Will Graham in Manhunter, I can only get so far into that headspace without going batshit crazy myself.

Oh, you mean these specific tweets? Guy is zinging her for being rather long of jaw, neck and tooth; essentially, a horseface. As in, she ran in the Belmont, but didn't win, and that's why she's mad that it's less watched.
It's not the high ground, exactly, but funny if you already can't stand her.

To give you some context, Ann Coulter is an ultraconservative political commentator who has published several books condemning what she perceives as the liberalization of the US and all the evils that go with it. Her modus operandi is to say extremely outlandish and incendiary things like "All Muslims should convert to Christianity or be killed" to create buzz (oddly enough, mostly among liberal circles) because that's the only way she can stay relevant and popular.
She has had a long-standing and nonsensical crusade against soccer as being some sort of communist plot to undermine the great United States and place it under the power of the evil United Nations or something... I don't really know. If you really want to get it straight from the horse's mouth (get it?) you can read her diatribe here: http://www.anncoulter.com/columns...
Because she never says anything of substance, it's hard to form a fact-based rebuttal other than saying "you're fucking crazy" so you get insults like this, rumors that she's transgender, and of course this incredibly enjoyable but completely not safe for work little story: http://ifuckedanncoulterinthea...

Ann Coulter is a horrible person but calling women cunts or "women" or etc. is still a pretty shitty tone to set for any remotely decent place to spend time. Call out her politics and rhetorical baiting, call her an amoral, attention-grubbing hypocrite, but skip the gross shit.
@biscuit My first comment seems deleted. Was reiterating the c-bomb too much, or the rest of my (admitted screed). It's your call, I'm just curious.
@joshmillard Yeah, that's a fair cop. Especially since I took it from referring to the tweet to obliquely calling her one. Not so proud of that now, but she just sends me off the deep end, which I guess is her particular evil magic. Whatever the case, dragging Mlkshk down is not something I want to do.
@Biscuit Oh, jeez, the anagram bits just came back to me. Clearly more than just obliquely insulting. Sorry, that was really over the top, so thank you for deleting it. I get a little unbalanced when my insomnia is in force. Again, apologies.
@dapete that is spot on.
also. hate ann coulter. still don't think it's appropriate to attack her looks or gender

@dantsypants @dapete @Lord_John_Whorfin @joshmillard @everyoneelse. Agree with @joshmillard and @carnivorouskale on this -- and when the *default* is attacking her looks/clothes/gender it's really unnerving (man, remember when Boondocks was doing all those strips about her having an Adam's Apple? Yikes.) Coulter as Westboro church seems pretty accurate, though! She really is a garbage person.
Still pretty bizarre that Coulter is pissed off that women's soccer is getting better ratings than horrible people in ridiculous hats watching two minutes of jogging wildlife. It doesn't even make sense as a Westboro-style provocation. They're just TV shows. There ought to be a meme like "Most depressing fact @ America I've read since O's election: _______ was watched by more people in U.S. than ___________." And you just substitute random shit like "Property Brothers" and "Family Feud."

And in the words of Chip Kidd, I know "cunt" is a hateful word for women, but I hate her.
