This is good - and it makes me glad that I went to a design school that taught us good design was timeless rather than trendy. Otherwise I'd have a portfolio with a lot of mouse pointers and dumb swooshes.
I know its a common mistake, but I can't help by point out though that kerning = the space between two individual letters, tracking = the space between all letters in a word.
Also ligatures have been around as long as the written word, nothing overly trendy about those used in the correct context.
