@NickSantosPedro oh, really? i mean, it does feel a little like a tacked-on excuse to get in more dancing, but i like the colors in all of the sequences.
Love this movie. all the music was written for other movies or purposes. The lyrics are by Arthur Freed, music by Nacio Herb Brown. Freed wanted a movie with all songs by him. So this scene wasn't to get in more dancing, it was to get into another Freed song into the movie.
BTW this movie was pretty well panned by critics when it came out, and was only 10th grossing movie of the year.
This is my 2nd least favorite scene. Least favorite is the love song on the huge stage.
