Pilgrimage...
alt text
My Uncle passed away suddenly last Saturday and I've made a journey to Carson City, NV to settle his affairs and take care of his things. Suffice it to say it has been one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do, and it's only the end of day one.
The above is a meticulously maintained Gibson Emperor probably from the early nineties. I found it and an equally beautiful Gibson Southern Jumbo this afternoon. My uncle suffered from a rather severe, but well-managed, case of bi-polar disorder for the entirety of his life. Over the last few years he was having a harder and harder time managing it. Medications that had worked for a lifetime and allowed him to live as normal a life as anyone else were failing him... As you might imagine the majority of his belongings were in a state I can only really refer to as unrecoverable so to find these like this was... well it was a one of a few bright spots in an otherwise somber and melancholy day.
Mlkshk has always been a bright spot for me, so if you all could help me remember my uncle for the wonderful person that he was and help me be grateful that he is no longer suffering I would really appreciate it.
For Uncle Tom.

Objects from the people we loved are somehow different, aren't they?
Here's love.

Best of luck to you and your family, and props to your uncle for fighting as long as he could.
